The Speckled carpetshark resides in shallow tropical waters and along coastlines and coral reefs (up to 50 m depth), especially around Australia.

INTERESTING FACTS

It has numerous brown spots covering the body, including the snout, and a large black ocellus (rounded eye-like spot) with a white border above the pectoral fins. It probably feeds mainly on invertebrates near the seabed (benthic).
